One of acetylsalicylic acid's versatile qualities is, that it keeps blood platelets from clumping and thus has a preventive effect on the emergence of blood clots. One of acetylsalicylic acid's versatile qualities is, that it keeps blood platelets from clumping and thus has a preventive effect on the emergence of blood clots. That is why Aspirin® is not only suitable for the treatment of pain, but at the same time also for prevention against cardiac infarction and stroke. Aspirin® Protect 100/300 was especially developed for this application. Like all other Aspirin® products, they contain the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid, albeit in a somewhat lower dosage (100 or 300 mg). A special trait of Aspirin® Protect 100/300 is the gastric juice resistant enteric-coating. This ensures, that the active ingredient is only released and absorbed in the small intestines, once it has passed the stomach, and not in the stomach itself. Under long-term medication, this leads to a good stomach-tolerance of Aspirin® Protect 100/300. Due to the low dosage and delayed release of the active ingredient, Aspirin® Protect 100/300 is less suitable for the treatment of states of pain, but all the more suitable in preventing infarctions.
